Genevieve Lahens ( Iris ) is a Haitian Modernist who studied at École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris and has an art degree in architecture. Iris did not begin painting until she was 33 and 39, she is still called upon to execute the occasional structural design.

Her distinct style show architectural influences from Byzantine and Medieval style, geometry and folk symbols.
